There is an initial suggestion that rail service between the Twin Cities and the Twin Ports could return after 34 years.
Amtrak has reportedly expressed interest in spending $600 million on a route that would be called the Northern Lights Express. Passengers would be carried between Minneapolis and Duluth-Superior, with four round trips offered each day. Federal grants and local matching funds would pay for the service. One Amtrak official says it could be running in a couple of years....
