National report shows Wisconsin had fourth-largest decline in higher education funding over five years


A national report ranked Wisconsin as having the fourth-largest decline in per-student higher education funding between 2013 and 2018.

The State Higher Education Executive Officers Association released the report looking at higher education finances since the Great Recession. Nationwide, education appropriations fell by more than 24 percent since 2008 because of enrollment increases and funding decreases...

Ken Notes: And yet we have one of the best systems in the nation and the world. It is not just what you spend but how you spend it and we do a pretty good job. It would be nice if we could create a fixed revenue source that rewarded the system in times of economic upturns and encouraged them to control spending in times of shortfalls. Currently the legislative support will not increase spending because it is one of the things they can control. For changes to happen we will need compromise and I just don`t see it -- which is to bad...
