$5M proposed for Milwaukee streetcar plaza near convention center

Plans to extend the Milwaukee streetcar to West Wisconsin Avenue include $5 million of city spending for a public plaza that would include a station just south of the downtown convention center.

Milwaukee aldermen over the next month will consider that $5 million along with spending for streetcar extensions Mayor Tom Barrett announced last week. The plaza budget is in addition to $46.8 million Barrett announced for a nearly quarter-mile extension to Wisconsin Avenue, plus planning to extend the Hop system further into the Bronzeville and Walker’s Point neighborhoods.

Ken Notes: I still believe Madison should do this on the old Tech School site downtown. Use BRT to get people from the airport to downtown, a Terrace to Terrace Trolley Bus to serve State Street, the Capitol, City Hall, and Convention Center, and BRT from the burbs... Congrats MKE!
