The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development could begin sending an additional $600 in unemployment compensation per week to those who are eligible by the week of April 26, the department recently announced. The funding is being provided through the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, which was created under the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act. The extra $600 will be provided through July 31 to those who are eligible for unemployment insurance and pandemic unemployment assistance, which also was established by the CARES Act.
