Interim University of Wisconsin President Tommy Thompson is heading into surgery after a water skiing accident


Tommy Thompson is heading into surgery Thursday morning after a water skiing accident, according to a post on his Facebook page.

The former governor and current University of Wisconsin System interim president is just about a couple months shy of his 80th birthday. He said he needs the surgery to "have my bicep reattached to the tendon."

UW System spokesman Mark Pitsch said this morning that Thompson is "in a little pain and getting it taken care of."

Pitsch did not immediately respond to an inquiry into if there was a sense of how long Thompson would be in recovery or when he`d be back in the office following the procedure...

Ken Notes: I remain a huge Tommy fan, I always enjoyed working with him and watching him work. He listens evaluates and compromises when need to move thing forward. And at 80 he is water skiing so not totally brilliant but close...
